Toguna Motors: African Agricultural Mechanization at the Heart of an Exemplary Sino-Malian Partnership

On the occasion of the SDHI-Weichai Power Global Partners Conference, Mr. Oumar Guindo, CEO of Toguna Agro Industries and Secretary-General of WAFA, gave an interview broadcast in China. The focus of the discussion was the future of agricultural mechanization in Africa and the role of Toguna Motors, a subsidiary of the Toguna Group, in building a modern and self-sufficient agricultural Africa.

🔹 A Historic Partnership Serving Agricultural Productivity
Since 2007, Toguna Motors has been the exclusive partner in Mali for major SDHI groups, including Sinotruk, Weichai, Lovol and Shantui.
Mr. Guindo described this collaboration with a vivid metaphor: “We have been engaged for 18 years; now it is time to marry and have children.”
These “children” symbolize the ambition to establish local assembly units in Mali for trucks and agricultural vehicles, aimed at supporting the logistics of the agricultural sector in West Africa.
This shared industrial vision paves the way for deeper Sino-Malian cooperation, based on skills transfer, job creation, and the valorization of African expertise.

🔹 Lovol: A New Horizon for Agricultural Mechanization
Alongside other SDHI strategic partners, Lovol contributes to agricultural mechanization by providing high-performance, durable tractors adapted to African farming conditions.
These machines are a key link in the agricultural value chain: they facilitate soil preparation, optimize crop yields, and support farmers in achieving more efficient and sustainable production.

🔹 An Integrated Vision for Agricultural Development
Through Toguna Motors, the Toguna Group demonstrates a coherent and integrated vision of agriculture: from fertilization (via Toguna Agro Industries) to mechanization and logistics, each entity of the group works to strengthen the continent’s agricultural sovereignty.
This holistic approach aligns with WAFA’s mission to promote competitive, sustainable West African agriculture based on innovative partnerships.
By supporting mechanization and logistics, Toguna addresses a crucial part of the chain: the transportation of inputs, agricultural products, and access to equipment for producers.

🔹 Towards a Modern and Connected Agricultural Africa
Oumar Guindo’s interview in China perfectly illustrates the growing role of African actors in global industrial dynamics.
His message is clear: Africa not only needs to fertilize its soils but also mechanize its fields and manage its logistics.
WAFA applauds this vision and congratulates Toguna Motors for its leading role in transforming African agriculture.
Together, through synergies between science, technology, and cooperation, we can build a nourished, efficient, and sovereign Africa. 🌾
