ECOWAS High-level roundtable on fertilizers: Investing in the future by improving soil health
Leaders and Ministers of agriculture and finance from across West Africa convened in Lomé on May 30 and 31 for a high-level roundtable. Co-hosted by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Togo Presidency, with support from the World Bank and the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), the purpose was to establish a shared roadmap for advancing reforms and investments in order to enhance the accessibility and affordability of fertilizers throughout the region. This crucial meeting aimed to address the pressing need for improved food security and agricultural productivity. By fostering collaboration and strategic planning, the roundtable aimed to pave the way for transformative changes in the agricultural sector, ensuring that fertilizers become more accessible and affordable.
