WAFA appoints Dr Innocent Okuku as Executive Secretary
WAFA has appointed an Executive Secretary in the person of Dr. Innocent Okuku, effective January 1, 2023. He will play the important role of overseeing all the activities of the association, serve as the main contact for partners/stakeholders, and ensuring that the association is sustainably functional. Dr. Innocent Okuku has been instrumental to the growth of the association and served on the board of WAFA as 1st Vice-President and Coordinator for Programs and Partnerships before taking on this role. His experience within the association and the fertilizer industry, and his passion for developing the industry led to the decision to appoint him as Executive Secretary.
He has over 30 years experience in the agricultural industry spanning research, development and commercial positions in both public and private organizations, including over 12 years in the fertilizer industry during which he served as Group Head of Commercial Services at Notore Chemical Industries PLC, and later as Founding Chief Executive Officer of Intrio Synergy Limited (ISL), an agro-allied company based in Nigeria and focused on helping smallholder farmers achieve increased production and income through the adoption of improved farming practices and inputs, including improved seeds and balanced fertilizers. Dr. Okuku holds a Doctorate degree in Crop Production, is an alumnus of the prestigious London Business School and serves on the board of some other agro-allied businesses.
