Agriculture: Cameroon has its soil and fertilizer laboratory

The donation from the Office Chérifien des phosphates (OCP) was returned to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on February 13 in the presence of many members of the government and the ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Cameroon.

The main laboratory is a two-level building equipped with state-of-the-art technology in soil and input analysis, in which large producers will make preliminary soil analyzes before any agricultural project. He is accompanied by a mobile laboratory, housed in a van equipped with the same technology as the main one. The rest of the donation is made up of rolling stock (tricycle, pick-up vehicles and motorcycles).

Now that it is open, the laboratory will have a special function in order to meet demand.

Who can benefit from the services of this laboratory?

Large producers, but especially small ones are mainly affected by this donation. Very present at this ceremony and at the invitation of Minister Gabriel MBAIROBE, small farmers are the priority of the Minader (link). This laboratory comes out of the fake they were victims of.

The donation received today by the State of Cameroon is the result of a cooperation agreement signed in November 2018 between the Cherifien phosphate office (link) and the Minader. It will allow Cameroon to increase its agricultural production through the study of soils and the supply of adequate fertilizers. Staff from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development stayed in Morocco in January and acquired the skills necessary to use these high-tech laboratories. Minister Gabriel MBAIROBE also recommended that they take great care, so that Cameroon can benefit from it as long as possible.
